Chase represents the typical corporate giant stepping on the little guy. Customer service is obviously taught that Chase comes first. Chase credit is essentially legalized loan sharking minus the baseball bat to the legs for non-payment.

I am not whining because I didn't pay my bill or because Chase made an error on my account. The fact is I have only used my Chase card 2-3 times in about 5 years. The reason I don't use it? It's because my...

APR is 29.9%!

1.) What did you do to get a 29.9% APR?

Great question, I am glad you asked. I missed a payment. YES! I was 30 days late on a payment and I knew full well that if you miss a payment your APR will go to 29.9%. But...Did Chase have any compassion? Did they say...Your a great customer...We value your business so we will just give you a warning this time? NO!

2.) How long ago has this been since you missed your payment?

This mishap occurred about 5 years ago. So long in fact that it doesn't even show up on my credit report.

3.) Well, have you called Chase to ask for the APR to be reduced?

Yes, about 17 times. Each time I am being told something different as if these reps were trained to avoid any talk that would reduce someone's APR whatsoever.

At first I was told I needed to wait 6 more months and they would run my credit report. If my credit report showed a high FICO score they would be glad to lower my APR. This was about 3 years ago...

So far it has been one story after another. The latest happened on Feb. 5th, 2008 which just so happens is the launch date of this web site :)...Anyway, the rep told me that they cannot lower my APR as I had 11 late payments. That's right 11! I then asked this rep (keeping it nice) to show me proof of the 11 late payments...Of course she had no access to that information BECAUSE THEY DON"T EXIST! I WAS NEVER LATE 11 TIMES!!!

4.) Why not just cancel your service and get another card?

I would love nothing more. But if I cancel this card then I will erase years of credit history which will lower my credit score. My goal is to carry only two credit cards, I currently have a Amex Platinum which has been great and on occasion I would like to use my Visa and not be charged 29.9%.

5.) Should you be so angry that you create a web site to tell your story that nobody really cares about?

Yes! I am angry that I have great credit history, I have a 790 FICO score yet Chase Bank treats me like the scum of the earth. Quite frankly it irritates the hell out of me.
